Wintermas started tonight with an evening hike through dusk and dark during the longest night of the year. We transcended the Winter solstice with deep crisp breaths, shades in the forest under a clouded sky, and waving shadows of dried grasses and wildflowers in the fields. We toasted the beauty of the season with hot borscht and black currant cordial against a snow covered fallen tree. And we kindled dreams of more of the dance with winter with visions of skiing, quiet nights, ice skating, and learning more about our natural winter wonderlands.
